Hi there,

I'm going ot Cuba shortly and getting very excited!!
However thought I'd check on the best way to spend money out there.

I'm British and have a Visa (delta) debit card. (i.e. not credit card!! I don't trust myself with one of those!)

Someone told me only a credit card is any use... is this right?! if so I'm fuc*ed...

should I bring travellers cheques.. if so what sort?

It would be easier obviously to carry all the US dolloars I need from the start... though a bit of a risk, As I'm staying for two weeks!

By the way what is crime like in cuba.. many incidences of tourists being done over?!

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Cheers,

Sparky

Credit cards mate! I believe you are f*cked.

Travellers cheques: Visa, Thomas Cook are best
In some of the really touristy places American Express might be accepted (National Hotel in Havana, Varadero)

Crime ? Not bad. Some snatch and run for the hills stuff but all in all a very safe country. Just don't be inattentive to your stuff. No real physical crime to speak to (to tourists that is...spousal abuse and barroom brawls are another matter)
