Does anyone know anything about the fishing on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula in the far west of Cuba? The beaches and snorkelling are supposed to be pretty amazing and I'm sure the fishing's good. Just wondered if anyone had any first-hand experience/knew someone who had.

I've been trying to go there for the past 2 years but it has just never worked with my schedule - I had planned on going again last August and again in December but once again I could not work it in on either of those trips. *I too think there may be some good fishing there as the area is sparcely populated, which means there may not be anyone in the area using entanglement nets that have destroyed so much of the fishing elsewhere in Cuba. *It is a very remote area of Cuba and few prople go there so pre-planning is important. *I'll be back in Cuba in late May for a week or 2 and may try to schedule a trip there then. *If by coincidence you (or anyone reading this) are going to be there at that time (late May/early June) and are up for a little fishing adventure, let me know and maybe we can get together and go. * 8)

Well, I'll almost certainly be heading down there in early April – I'll let you know how I get on.

Please do, so many people come here asking for advice and then never report back. I am particularily interested in this area because as I mentioned previously, it is sparsly populated which in Cuba can mean there may be some unspoiled fishing there.
