Need info on local guides based out of Playa Larga. Not interested in lodges just guides. I've read that the Las Salinas has a quota 6 boats per day if this is true are they all booked by the various outfitters in the area??

Streamside,

I will have to look through my files but I think I can dig up the contact info for the guides who work in the Las Salinas area. There is apparantly some OK bonefishing around Playa Larga itself. The only way to get into Las Salinas is to go with a guide though.

Email me at daveb@fishtales.ca and if I can find anything I'll pass on the info. I do know that the boats are one guide and one fisher.

I fished Las Salinas 3 years ago, lots of bonefish. I bought permit through Rumba close by.

I have read where the number of anglers are restricted at Las Salinas. Anyone heard this?

Well, kind of. There are just so many guides who fish Las Salinas and so many guides who fish the Rio, & they all work for the same guy. So if there is a big group who want to fish the Rio and some of the Las Salinas guides are called over to fish the Rio, then "the number of anglers are restricted at Las Salinas" because there would be only so many guides left available at Las Salinas.

Comprende?

Do you have to use guides and if so is it because it is a park or because it is isolated?

The reason you have to use a guide is because you need a boat to fish there (there is no place to "do it yourself" fish) and the only way you can get a boat is by hiring one of the guides. *Also, since this is a National Park there may be some regulation that I am knot aware of that says you cannot fish within the confines of the park without a guide. * ???
