dear all,

i need some advice. me and a friend are off to cuba on december 11th and i wanted to find out about beach fishing. does anyone know if it is allowed? i also want to know the best places to fish, i have heard that the islands cayo coco and cayo largo are very good. basically we want to wander around all day un guided, spinning and fly fishing. is this possible?

kind regards

Hola kieran, Wellcome to Cuba Mania

There is no problem fishing anywhere in Cuba, if you look through this forum there a few recent posts about fishing around the cayos, you should find everything you need there.

btw, you should put yourself on the Member Map

At the top of the page click on Member Map, from the drop down menu on the left hand side select your Country/Geographical location when your map appears go to the bottom of the member list and click on Add my location then point and click to your location to add your marker

Once you’ve done that check out the world time clock so you can see what time it is where other people are located: http://www.world-clock.org/

nice one jackd, put myself on the map!

it seems as if there are no laws at all surrounding beach fishing in cuba and you can do it anywhere you feel like! the reason im so tetchy about this is because i went to the maldives for 10 days with the intent of catching some big rays {and believe me they are BIG out there}only to fing it was illegal and punishable with a $500 fine!!!!!

what a waste of a holiday!

kieran - you should have gone with John Wilson - he knows where the big rays are (and they are legal ;) )
