Forget fello as he is inconsistent. Have your bf take his equipment and once you get there ask around the hotel and they will find someone to take him fishing.

Niki
I was at Guillermo in July and did quite a bit of fishing.
Go to "cuban fishing reports wanted" to see my posts.
Hope it's of some use.

Niki, My wife Carol and I will be at the
Daiqueri/dakery/diaqerey...same hotel as you, from 12 to 26th Oct. I am a keen fisherman and will certainly be out fishing most days. Your B/F is welcome to tag along and if he fancies a deep sea charter I would be happy to split the costs. I also hope to rent a small boat on what's called 'bare boat' charter. That is you don't have a crew and you do your own thing. Over here in the UK I have had my own boat for about 30 years and I think I've got the hang of it now ;D. So tell the dude not to worry as long as he does not mind fishing with an excentric Englishman.

Afishionado, from what folks have posted here and in other forums and sites, you will be hard pressed to find a bare boat rental/charter of any kind, anywhere in Cuba, there just aren't any. (some sailboats now, Canadian company, on the South West coast)
Please let us know the outcome, lots of folks would be interested. *:)

Have you Canuks never heard of the European Peddalo Fishing Competition. Hundreds if not thousands of European fishermen head out from their respective shores in two person Peddalos. Franticly they thrash their way out to sea in search of ever elusive fish. For this Hurculian task we train at least once a month by walking the dog down the road to the pub. It's pretty exhasting work I can tell you.
Any way I have been in serious training for some hours now, I have even got up and made my own coffee!!
So if there aint no boats to charter I will be well prepared to use the hotels peddalos. I just hope the wife don't want to water ski!

We have a very similar competition but not on as grand a scale.
We have rules, only one ice chest of beer per peddalo and fishing tackle is optional.
And yes we also train year round *;)
