Can anybody out there please help me with my dilemma?Im about to organise my summer holiday and have managed to persuade my girlfriend that it should be to Cayo Largo. Can anyone tell me what the bonefishing is like in June and while i'll have enough money for a couple of guided trips is it possible to catch bonefish on the hotel side of the island i'll be hopefully staying at the Sol Cayo Largo.Any sort of help would be much appreciated. Thanks! ???

I fished around the island a few of years ago and stayed at the Sol hotel. There is some great bonefishing flats but you have to find them.Rent some form of transport from outside the hotel and head for the pig farm a few miles away, ask the local workers for directions. The farmer should allow you access through his pig farm to the the flats, if he declines then $5 should to the trick. Also take the free bus ride from the hotel to the large beach, when there see if you can rent a boat then you can access miles of flats.
Get some information on the tides. Have fun.

Cheers for that info.Is it possible to get to them by wading from the beaches? How did you get on, did you catch many bones? What other speices were about?

Here is a good link http://www.cayolargo.net/introduction.htm
On my first trip to pig flats (pig farm) I caught a couple of bones, the wind was up. I blind fished a few deep holes.
My second trip was more productive less wind and I hit the tide right, I caught 4 bones and lost a big one.
The fish on that flat are not spooked, but hard to spot.
The fish were 4 to 7lb the biggie? Cream Charlies Bonefish specials 8, 10, 12.
The beach I mentioned was Playa Sirena, around the boat dock are cudas. The other side of the dock opposite the beach are little inlets with plenty of smaller bones.
