What are you sending him? I think carrying a package for others is a huge responsibly these days. Send by UPS

you can't send by UPS. UPS is American owned, enough said. DHL will deliver but they are over the top in price. A small package is no big deal, it's probably letters and photos and few other things. And of course the carrier pidgeon has every right to inspect the contents of the package. It really is not that big of a deal to deliver these kinds of things- EVEN NOW. I have a friend who does it for me...just recently in fact. Good luck Annisa, the relationship frustration begins.

I agree DHL is brutal. I tried to send 2 books and they wanted $235. That is ridiculous. If I hadn't just got back, I would take it for you. If I come across anyone that is going soon, will let you know. :) Good luck...

To be honest, I don't think there are many members on this board who go to Varadero much.

Anissa, try Tryp Advisor. This is strictly a tourist forum; many Canadians on that forum go to Varadero, you might even find someone who lives in your city...a lot of people from out East are members..my advise is, try that sight but don't discuss all the stuff about your boyfriend, just make a request that you need a small package delivered of letters, photos and a pair of sunglasses. I'd skip the empty nap sack only because you will have better luck if you keep your delivery small. I Hope you find someone that will help you. This is the worst part of having a relationship with a Cuban, the difficulty in communicating so I feel for you. But you have to get used to it. Maybe down the road you can set your boyfriend up with email or a mobile and then you could text him, that's inexpensive and a good way to communicate and save the phonecalls for once every two weeks.

Thanks for the advice...I think I might add a cell phone in that package ;)
