I just got back a couple of days ago from Cuba.. I brought my father to rest in his homeland.. It was the most spiritual trip ever, anyway..

Being there I saw how in need of everything they are. I live in the US.. and wanted to know if anyone knows ways of sending packages of clothing (usedor bought ) and other things. That they will arrived safely to the homes of my family. Anything other thank DHL.. and I know its hard from the US.. because of our embargo.. But just wondering if anyone knows anything.. thank you

I too, am cubana but in US, and born here to make it even more difficult with various family spread en Cuba. It is impossibly hard to do anything (at least for me has been) , send mail, internet, forget phone... I sent mail from Mexico last fall and never arrived even with good address and carnet # etc. Just found out yesterday that my boyfriend's internet cuenta / boletas de acesso, wasn't working for some time as he had no cash for ithaving spent it on printing letters and family food . too proud to tell me, my half-sister had to tell me he was so depressed and just saving it all until March... the once a week was our heartline and it is crazy making not having that. pero, es cuba. I am the worried one that my mother(80) here in US won't do well when I am there for 2m ..... would hate to think of being there and having her pull a cubana on mi from the US!! love is a pull from all directions . If you learn anything good please share it con mi, now I am trying to decide about the flights, have it to CUN but am not so sure about whether to book w/ canadian t agent and just give away abunch of $ or wait to buy there and sweat it out whether i will make the time to get a seat same day decent price. and, bringing as much as I can es tan muy importante!!!si,si, si... y tu? I would be most grateful to hear as you have just been, what we do for family mmmm! thankyou, J

There is a company in Montreal called Antillas Express that will deliver letters and packages to Cuba. I have used them several times with no problems. The website is www.antillas-express.com it costs $5 to deliver a letter, packages are $10 per pound, or you can purchase items from the online store. Their website is in english/spanish/french. They have a toll free number for Canada and the U.S as well. It is a little bit expensive, but it is one way to get your letters and packages to Cuba.

I mean in Toronto.....

If there are any single Cuban women in Toronto (which I doubt very much) ask yourself where they might hang out:

1- Cuban restaurants.
2- Cuban night clubs.
3- Cuban Salsa Cubs or schools.

Let your fingers do the walking.

Sending parcels to Cuba is possible but very expensive, the only RELIABLE
service I know is DHL, but it's expensive so I use it only for documents and emergencies. Packages send by regular post almost never arrive and disappear, I guess they are stolen or seized by the customs.
Note that you have to provide an invoice with an indicated value of each item and pay import taxes over the goods if the value is in excess of 100$ ( or 150$ ? not sure ).
Think twice:
Clothing has a big volume in proportion to it's value, so in most case the cost of the transport and taxes will be higher than the value of the clothing.
To me a better solution is, to send money to Cuba, so they can buy the clothes in Cuba. The average clothing in Cuba is cheaper than abroad ( Chinese import etc.) only shoes ( and footwear) are expensive.
This way you save on the transport and import duties.
