Hello hello. I finally jumped off the deep end and married my hubby....BUT... little did we know that some of the immigration papers need to be handwritten by him. Anyone going down to Holguin soon that are willing to meet with him to pick up the papers? The first Bucanero's on me :)

Cheers

NOTHING in the package has to be written by him, you can fill out the papers on your own IF you know all the information about it. The only thing that is required of him is his signature in about 7 places depending on whether he has kids or not, etc...

Why not just bring them down on your next trip? The last thing I would want is to put my immigration papers in someone else's hands and have them get lost. Remember, people are going down on vacation or going down to spend time with a loved one...not to watch over your important documents and these doc's would be considered important. If it was just a letter then it's no big deal but these are your immigration papers.

Just my 2 cents.

Really? I called immigration and they told me that his questionnaire has to be filled out by him. That's not true? I was smart enough to get his signature on everything... and don't i need the medical checkup form and a police check form and passport info?

You need the medical form, the "Appendix D"...the form that the doctor fills out and signs. You need a PHOTOCOPY of the inside page of his passport, the page with all his information on it. You need the Police Certificate and it will also need to be translated into english. You need his birth certificate and it will also have to be translated into english. You need your marriage certificate and it also has to be translated into english. His birth certificate, police certificate and the marriage certificate need to be stamped by MINREX in Havana before they can be used for international purposes (the Canadian embassy is an international extension of Canada)

You do not need him to do the hand writing on the forms, CIC here is useless for information UNLESS it pertain to YOUR portion of the application. Any questions that pertain to the cubans portion of the application has to be addressed to a Canadian embassy abroad.

I filled out the entire package in my handwriting because my husband's penmanship sucks. All that matters is that he signs where he is supposed to stating that all the information is true to the best of his knowledge. The embassy in Havana doesn't give a shiiittttt who's handwriting the application is in.

Hey. He's got all the paperwork except the police check. he's telling me that even if he went to havana to get it, it would take them a week. does this make sense to ANYONE? He's already got his medical check and time is ticking.... anyone going to holguin (or nearby) soon?
