fishing trip

Hi,
we want to go fishing in the carribeans in the month of February. It would be nice to find a place where we can fish on our own or rent a small boat and go fishing by ourselves. We were looking to go to Cuba since we love the country but from what we have read the fishing doesn't seem to be very good. It would be great if we could find a nice hotel on the beach, not to crowded with the possiblity to fish. Any advice?

Best advice IMO would be to look for another island. Why? You say you want to rent a boat and fish on your own and you cannot do that in Cuba. That plus the fact that beach/shore fishing is marginal at best because the Cubans have already netted most of the fish in their near shore waters.

Otherwise, Cuba is a beautiful country with nice beaches and tourist hotels.
