Going to Cayo Santa MAria in Aug 08 needs a boat!! can anyone help!!

We a 2 fishermen going to Cayo Santa Maria for 2 weeks from August 24th to September 7th. We would like to hire a boat and a guide to do some reef fishing and maybe some big game fishing, can anyone help us with finding a boat. Also can you give us some idea of cost? We are staying at the Sol Santa Maria. Many Thanks!

hi guys , ask around for this fella PABLO ARIEL MOYA, i was given his name by a cuban friend of mine in cayo guillermo when i was there may / june.
please let me know how you get on as i intend to give this guy a go next year.

You will be able to get a boat out from marina on the Cayo just before Santa Maria. I have fished there a few times and always produced good fish manily Tarpon. The guides I think work for the Baga national Parc?
I went there from Cayo Guillermo with Duniesky, I would ask at your hotel first maybe the barman could put you in the right direction etc rather than through a the tour operator who would add their percentage !!!?
We used mainly poppers and Magnums with red heads they seemed to work the best. On the trip that I went on last we had 5 good sized tarpon averaging 60 + lbs.
We did see a deep sea boat come in with big kingfish and cuban snapper not sure how much they charged for the day but its normally around £200 for the day for the boat. If you had someone else go the price is the same all you are paying for is the boat.
