Matt
Have you been to Moron?? I have some tidbits of info that may be of some help.
Also have some contact numbers for car rentals, from one of the resorts.
Currently, a cab will cost approx. 40-50CuC from Cayo Coco, to Moron. These are one way prices.
Let me know if you'd like the info I have..

Sorry about the wait Matt.
So first off... I fish at loblaws fish counter... So unfortunately, I don't have any local fishing info... just, as I mentioned... tidbits about the town of Moron.
The only hotel I know of, is Hotel Moron. It was $28.00 per night including breakfast, beds are king size. Each room has a private balcony. The AC worked well, and was quite. Small TV... that brings in PBS.. english w/ spanish subtitles
If your up real early you have to let the hot water run for about 20 mins. before it gets hot. The service staff are really nice. The desk people are helpful. The overnight parking is very safe, and included. There is a disco ( the best in Moron ) 7 nights a week. Locals flock to this disco. You want a room on the west side of the building, unless you like listening to thumping sub-woofers till 3am...Didn't see any bugs in the room.
The first photo is a shot of the front of the hotel. and the second was shot from my balcony, at sunrise.
If you've never been to a cuban town outside of Varadero, then you've not seen the average sidewalk. Picture three, could have been taken in any town or city in Cuba.. I don't recall seeing sidewalks like these in Varadero.
Main-street Moron, is an experience. When driving, you never go above second gear, and are most of the time, in first gear. You have to drive, very slow, and use extreme caution. Picture four is a typical moment on the main-street. The horse drawn taxi, ( photo five, ) is as popular as the bici-taxi. ( i've reached the five photo limit for this post... photo six and seven on next post )

The first photo is another form of transportation. Imagine having childhood memories like this of you and your grandfather.
Moron is a town, not populated by many tourists... which is strange, in that, it is the closest town to all the resorts on Cayo Coco. It seems most tourists venturing off the resorts, head to Ceigo de Avila... another 40klms south.
The second photo, shows a gem I found, outside of town, on the shores of Laguna de la Lechie ( Milk Lake ). This is a great spot called la Atarraya. open from 12:30pm till 7PM. To get there, you need to follow the main-street, straight north. You will come a point where you will think I have sent you on a wild goose chase. Not true.. just keep driving... maybe 20 mins. north of town... and than you come upon the eatery. Prices were decent, and it's mainly locals there. Guy walking around with a guitar, playing songs, and a breeze going through the place, that could almost launch a kite. I actually had my last lunch there.
Also while in Moron, there are many local places to buy food, or drinks with the cuban national peso. Find the bank and exchange 5 or 10 CUC to National... you'll be able to hang with the locals, and use the lower peso.
Hope you find some use for this info..

HI MATT
both me and the welsh wizard mark fished the hobbycats from the daqurie around the point and near the 2 islands mark got nothing on lures. as i got 5 barracuda, and one king fish on moarra trolled behind the cat. as soon as mark changed to moarra he got hit by two big fish one was a barracuda the other we did not see but it was big, he lost both of them. the lad from the daqurie who sailed the hobby did say the big red yossies and the same rapalas where good but they liked the dead bait which they brought with them as the barman lester he will point you in the right direction or ask mark he knows the lads well regards.
