2 questions re Guillermo!!

Hi folks

Have tow more questions in prep for my trip in April.

1. Has anyone caught fish on lures from the flats along the main strip of beach i.e at the back of the cojimar to playa pilar etc? I have seen cuda and small needles but never been able to entice them with lures.

2. Has anyone (excluding marktheshark) hooked or even landed tarpon or jack crevalle from around the bridge if so what tecniques did you use etc?

I've had a jack from the bridge on prawn.
The tarpon behind the hotels will take 3" poppers (flipper had 3 one evening) & will also take a bait of whole shrimp.

We had some cuda and spanish mackerel around the flats near cojimar but mainly fishing on the edges of flats into deeper water
Most came to large blue mackerel type poppers as big as 6 inches
Also had some small fish on shrimp flies over the seagrass
Best when tide coming in and also early or late

Hi Billy Boy ,

Iv'e caught a Jack Cravelle off of the bridge but only a small one,the conditions were'nt ideal as there was a cold front and it was fairly windy.I took it on a whole shrimp and a low resistance carp style set up ( letting the fish run with the bait and striking only when it stops to eat it is crucial).The piccie is on my signature,it's only small but any fish was welcome in those conditions.Sorry i don't know about the flats i never got around to it, too many other spots to try first.
