Hi folks

I note some people have fished this mark. Has anyone fished the actual beach? Do you just wade out and cast lures? Any advice on species n lures etc very welcome. Im off to guillermo in three weeks - Cant wait!

Cheers

hi billyboy
my good friend (flipper) off the animation staff at the melia guillermo knows this place very well, he fished off the rocks both at night and day time. and there are some cracking fish to be caught as he tell me, you need not to go undergunned if you ask for flipper he will go with you last time i was there i was told not to take my fishing gear (the wife) and yes she is the boss lol. the beach is always full of tourists (shame) we seen some big barracuda while snorkling and she will not let me take my speargun,:sweatdrop. regards

Hi Billy,

I fished it in Jan (not the best time) this year.

I found the rocks high which I think restricts casting/landing etc.
Also having hooked an amberjack on a previous visit, I wouldn't like to get dragged in off them!!!!

Anyway I had no luck of the rocks but did cast out a prawn and a berkley crab at the rock end of the beach which was very quiet.

I caught a Permit!

Not a big one but I was very happy non the less.

I think the beach is quite quiet, fish-wise, which is why most people fish the cliffs. There's a bit more coral and rock and you can cast from elevation to get a bit of distance.
Having said that, there's nothing keeping the fish to the rocks and I'm sure that if you waded in from the beach and cast big poppers, the blooping and splashing would attract any jacks, snapper, cuda and maybe tarpon passing.
Me, I'll be on the cliffs, chasing the monsters in the evening light; why go all that way to smoke half a cigar?
Tight lines!
