Hi Y'all. I'm off to Guillermo on Sunday - just hope those cold fronts keep their distance. If your like me you will always take too much gear. can anyone recommend how may lures to take (poppers, sub, deep divers, spinners n shads etc)?

If you had to limt your selection to 10 lures - what would they be?

Also, Is there a pathway from the road that gets you easy access to any of the rock marks on the island?

Will post a report when I return - tight lines amigos!

Hey Will,

I'm off there in three weeks and am being kept up to date by a guy who is in regular contact with some of the staff there. The word on the ground is that the most productive lure at the moment is the Rapala X Rap saltwater white and red, and yellow and orange shallow divers.

Tight Lines....Steve.

Hi Ian,

I'll chase him for more info and let you know. Without wishing to sound like a tackle-tart, what gear are you taking (rods/reels)? I've just got myself a FireFly 2.4m 'Blue Water' 30 - 120g rod (very nice) but get the impression that I will also need something heavier for the hobiecats/bridge. Also got a shed load of raps, tube-lures and toby's!! What do you reckon?

TTYL.

Steve sounds like your pretty well covered mate, i'll be taking a couple of fly rods(bonefish and tarpon) 2 9ft 60g spinning rods with big bait runner reels loaded with near 300yds of 30lb spiderwire braid, used these off the beach and boat no probs at all,a 20lb class boat rod and abu7000 again loaded to the hilt with braid, where did you get the tube lures  .To be honest i did well on the boat and catamaran using poppers, but generally the best fishing definitely came to live bait and ledgered shrimp,so am taking a 7ft light spinning rod so the daughter and lad can catch the live bait and have a bit of fun,be sure to take some light line and small hooks for catching the live bait,I am trying to get hold of a guy i got poppers off last time, they outfished every lure i took hands down,so i'd say between us we should be well and truly sorted.
regards
Ian

If you want some super six and half inch poppers go to http://www.basspro.com. Cost about 3 quid with carriage.
Ian send me your mobile no on the email so I can contact you over there I have some friends going out next week and they will have lots of info before we go. I cannot wait!!!
