I am 31, male, English, currently in Key West, Florida. I am keen to get to Cuba to meet my girlfriend who is flying out from London on 3rd May.
I am willing to share expenses and do any work needed on the boat. I have dingy sailing experience, RYA grade 2, and good spoken Spanish/French.
Have some experience cleaning boat engines in Fort Lauderdale. I am friendly, easy going, non-drinker, non-smoker, reliable, hard working, can cook a bit and happy to participate in watch keeping, anchoring, maintenance, galley, and housekeeping duties. 5'11'', approx 12 stone, don't get sea sick and have no special food requirements.
If you know of anyone going to Cuba who needs crew then please email danfeane@hotmail.com
:)

danfeane: you should have no trouble finding a ride if you are in Key Weird. Hang around the docks in the harbour (Garrison Bight area) and ask around. Also, there is a bulletin board at the Waterfront Market that frequently contains notices of vsls going to Havana who will take crew.
If you are having no luck, post again in one week.

Hi
I am still in Key West and trying to get to Cuba. I have put up notices around town, including in the Waterfront Market, but have had no luck so far. I emailed txjjzz who left the message above, but haven't heard back.
Is anyone else heading for Cuba, and could use a free deckhand?
Thanks
Dan

Did you contact the above poster, txjjzz who said he was going? What about his boat?

Yes I contacted txjjzz who said he was going by boat to Cuba, but I haven't heard back yet. Is anyone else sailing to Cuba, or do you know of any cheap flights via Nassau?

Sorry, I have been out of town for a couple of days. Flights thru Nassau run around $250 round trip + $15 for the Tourist Card which you get at the Cubana ticket counter when you purchase your ticket - I believe they take cash only for both the ticket and Tourist Card.
Also, check your PM (upper right corner of page in case you don't know).

I know 2 people that have flown that route on Cubana, about 5 months apart. They will NEVER do that again. Both thought they were going to die....lol

gres: What route? NAS -> HAV? I fly that route all the time and it's no problemo. What problems are you referring to?

You flew on those Russian planes ?
Both complained of very bumpy, low to the water, bank left, bank right flights.
One of the guys is a Bronx boy and he was scared.... lol
