A friend of mine told me that if you are cuban, even if you are an US citizen, you are not allow to get into cuba in a boat, is this true?
Can a cuban, been an US citizen, travel to cuba on a boat? or is he/she not allow in the country? 'course, using bahamas or anyother way.....
Thanx....

Your friend does not know what he (she?) is talking about.

So, I guess there shouldn't be any problem....

I have taken Cubans on my boat - Key Wierd to Havana. That's right no problem, as long as their passport is in order.

I sailed from mexico to Cuba and then to key west where we checked in about two years ago, no particular problems with customs, but have read that there are a few more hassles involved such as leaving from the US. Can anyone shed light on that now as I would like to go back within the next 6 mos.

A Cuban national is NOT allowed on your boat without permission from the harbourmaster in Cuba.
You are the Captain and responsible for everything and everyone on your boat. Your boat is a piece of the country from were it is registered and the flag you fly verifys it
Check with the Cuban consulate in the country you come from, they know the law, why take the chance of having your boat confiscated.

If you do have a boat moored in Cuba, you are not allowed to bring Cubans on board. I assume the harbormaster has some discretion but I would doubt he would allow it.
Hell, I couldn't rent a zodiac on the Canimao River and take my Cuban wife on board without an employee of the company accompnaying us and piloting the boat, which we did at no extra cost.

dynomanca: Your reply has nothing to do with the OP's question. Read the post.
gres's post is correct, but only in relation to dynomanca's off-topic reply.

"See you didn't even know we could buy houses there did you"
ok, I am assuming the house was purchased legally. So how do you do it ? I am not talking about building a house, that's a different matter and quite doable.
