It is generally accepted that Cuba has some of the best largemouth bass fishing, and some of the biggest specimens, to be found anywhere; likewise, it is still considered a utopia for light-tackle flats fishing for various species, especially bonefish and small tarpon.

hi,
I am looking for some information on bass fishing guides and trips near manzanillo. I did fish just north of santiago de cuba about 10 years ago. I can not get a flight there during the first week of december. But i can get to manzanillo..which is about the same distance to santiago as the resort I stayed at before...bucanero..
regards, david.

Greetings:
We just spent the last week fishing the Rondeau Lagoons near Cayo Cocco..near Moron. Dec 2-9/2001
The lakes are very nice. The boats are 3/5 the guides are excellent. It was $35 U.S. per 1/2 day with guide and boat.
Bring your own tackle..you need 15lb..test.
5 guys caught only 4 large fish..one 10lbs,,8 ,and lower..
I have never casted as many times in my life.
Would I go back,, yes..I am sure there are more fish there they said you should have been here yesterday , we caught 7 fish in the same spot.
Only take a 10 inch black with blue tail- berkeley tournament worm...It was the only thing they were biting..
You may need some mosquito repellent..I used it one day.
leave a message..if you are going ,,we got transportation from the hotel iberostar daquiri..in cayo cocco..

i know that here people are talking about fishing on a boat, ship, but i have some experiences about fishing underwater, i did it for 3 years. i can say that the sea around Cuba is very beautifull, very transparent, and have a amaizing variety of fishes.
when i started fishing, i felt in love with such beautifull, i can tell that's more exciting hunt underwater than fish on it. *When you are able to pick the fish that you want to hunt among others, believe me, that's the best feeling that you can experience. *
i don't speak too much english, so please i will apreciate any correction. thank.

for hunting under water, in Cuba you have to go down at least ::) 22,50 meters using your own breath, and for the best hunting you have to go down :o 36 meters. *you need a neumatic gun, like an arpon, flippers, a mask, snorkel and some lastre, you have to go down without moving your legs in order to save your oxigene to come back to surface. ;D
Any people that want to hunt under water in Cuba, can ask here and i will introduce some hunter, that i know in Cuba, that can show you how to do it. 8)
please correct my english, i will apreciate it. thanks.

Hi guys,
What about the sea fishing from the beach / pier in cayo coco and cayo guillermo - is it ant good ?
What can I expect and what kind of gear would I need. I'm guessing barracuda, jacks and maybe tarpon. I would like to do light spinning or bait fishing.
Any advice or info gratefully received !
Cheers
Gary
