I'm going to Cuba at the end of December (can't wait!!). I heard about the L'Habana's Carnival. Does anybody know what's going on in this Carnival?
Is it really worth to see and what you should dress, do, bring, etc. ?
Let me get part of this great spirit!!!!

As I understand it, the main Carnival in Havana happens at the end of July for 2 weeks. I was there the week after that and kiosks were still up along the Malecon and people were still dancing in the streets! Same thing happens in Santiago in August (I was there the week before that one!). I understand that there is another Festival of some kind starting January 1st in Havana but I don't know what they do with that one. I will be there about that time too but will probably just miss that one, too!

I attended Carnival in La Habana in 2000. It was held for several consecutive weekends toward the end of July and into August. My understanding is that weekends are used so as to allow most people to continue with their normal work schedules.

I didn't attend the event this year, but was in Havana until July 1. Work had begun on the Malecon to get ready for this year's celebration. I am not certain, but it appears that it may have begun on a Thursday, July 26, an important holiday in Cuba.

Yo estuve en Cuba, y el carnaval empezó el 3 de agosto. Bailes a lo largo del malecón. muy interesante.

The Carnival in Havana starts on the three days of public holidat around 26 July, continues the next week and then at weekends for much of August.

There is nothing comparable to that in December.

Was OP thinking of the Dia de San Lazaro ?
