You can date your Cuban cigars and find out which factory they were made in by checking the code on the bottom of the box.

;) I need to buy Monte Cristo Cigars #1 for my hubbie while in Cuba. I have heard that you must be careful when purchasing. While staying at a Resort... what are my best options??? How do I tell if they are real or not???

:o *best bet..is to purchase in Casa de Habano ! official cigar store. a lot of resort lobbies have shops as well! where are you going? hostel valencia...in habana vieja gets good selection! also @ melia cohiba! in the official stores...they are as real as the get!! does not always guarantee quality though!

For sure you can buy on the street but you need to know your stuff very well, and be carefull of the police for you and the person who buy it to you.

Barrio Chino en La Habana is a good place but you got to know people who know people and you got to deal the price.

Mainly it's around 25-30 $ for Monte Cristo # 3.

And 50-55$ for Cohiba Lanceros (Churchill)

For sure it's black market but you got to be as I'm tell very careful.
