MODERATOR NOTE !
REPOST OF CUBA FAN POST IN MANIA FORUM!!
" Francisco Morán, a Cuban poet who lives in Arlington, Va., and launched lahabanaelegante.com in the spring of 1998, has gone a step further.
He's reviving one of his favorite Havana traditions.
On Nov. 16, Cubans line up for hours before a "sacred'' ceiba tree at El Templete in Havana to get their turn at circling the tree and making a wish. The tradition celebrates the city's first Mass.
Now Morán is asking Cubans from around the world to e-mail their wishes to lahabanaelegante.com.
At midnight on Nov. 16, he'll post on the website a picture of the old ceiba -- and the wishes of the Cuban community in cyberspace."
