Good question .
I thought I read something about developing the sale of condos down there I'll see if I can find the article.

I know when they were selling the condos in Miramar, but have now stopped selling them to tourists. The government figures it makes more by renting them.

Here is the Link to the guy that got sued by Remax real Estate company, for saying he was the Cuban remax affiliate.

for all of you not familiar with situation: Cuba is wonderful and beautiful but not is not under capitalism. You cannot own land/houses in Cuba. The State does.

Not entirely true. Cubans can and do own their own homes. They can even get government loans to buy the property. If they have land, they can sell parcels of it. I know. My novias mother has done this, legally, twice.

They can't sell their house but they can trade it. They can get a permit ot build, also.

The "government" part comes into play only when they "take it away" for whatever reason.

But going back to the original query - it is only Cuban's resident in Cuba who can own their own property.

At this point in time a foreigner cannot purchase a house in Cuba in their name. I just looked into it and my fiance can own the house in his name but I cannot have anything to do with the ownership of the house because I am a foreigner/tourist. Still trying to find a way though, still looking...
